What it won't do is remember that you missed the same concept nine days ago, bring it back right before you're about to forget it again, or track where you stand on recall versus explain versus apply for that specific book. General chatbots have no mastery model of you and no review schedule — every conversation starts from zero, so nothing compounds.
That structure is what the subscription is actually priced for — call it a thinking tool, not a reading app. The alternative to a few minutes of retrieval drills now is re-reading the whole book later once it's faded, which costs far more of the hours you were trying to save in the first place.
